How do I use Food Untethered pouches?
Our blends have been designed for bolus feeding with a 60 ml syringe, using a flexible pouch for cleanliness and safety.
If a thinner blend is required, such as for pump use, additional liquid can be added. However, this changes the meal’s nutritional content, which must be accounted for. In addition, check with your dietitian to see if there are any issues with using your pump with blended feed. Different pump manufacturers have different thoughts on blended feed.
Your dietitian can guide you through these adjustments. Remember, patient safety is paramount.
How do I store Food Untethered blends?
When unopened our organic, additive free blends can be stored at room temperature.
Once opened, consume within 2 hours or refrigerate and use within 24 hours.
Who can use Food Untethered blends?
Our Organic, tube food pouches are a liquidised level 3 (IDDSI) real food blend and ideal for tube-feeding. As such they are optimised for calories and nutrition, they are easily digestible as an oral feed too.
Disclaimer: dietary needs vary person to person and so it’s crucial that you make sure that your nutrition is tailored to your individual needs (having said that, we make delicious, individual real, blended food so you are spoilt for choice!).

Is there a risk that a feeding tube could get blocked?
This is a risk and one that was a significant concern in the past but with modern equipment, dietary measurements and the quality of our product, it is one that is no longer a common risk.
We have tested our products with a range of ages and conditions and not had any blockages reported. That said, if something does happen, please let us know, we are always here.
Can Food Untethered blends be used through a J tube?
Not currently advocating this due to a lack of evidence based studies. Generally administering FU pouches through gastrostomy tubes sized 12fr and above minimises the risk of blockages and allow replacing buttons to be done with minimal fuss.
Small bowel does not have any acid to protect it from food borne infections.
How to buy Food Untethered blends?
Direct from us and without a prescription. Over time we will be available across more locations and channels.
Can I get Food Untethered blends through the NHS like formula?
Not yet but we are working on this, our dream is for everyone to have free, NHS prescriptions to healthy, organic blended food.

Are there allergens in Food Untethered?
All ingredients are listed on our blend page and on the back of our packaging.
We have worked to minimise our use of potential allergens and clearly label our packs.
Are your products Gluten free?
None of our ingredients contain gluten but because our products are made in factory that occasionally handles gluten we cannot guarantee that we have below 20ppm of gluten in our meals. We are looking at testing to ensure we are certified as Gluten Free but this will come over time.
How do I store Food Untethered?
Our blended meals are created for Ambient (Room temperature) storage, so your food cupboard, pantry is perfect when unopened.
Once opened, please store within a fridge and use within 24 hours.
Are your blends nutritionally complete like formula?
Food Untethered Blends are not a formula, but 100% real food with no additives. We created them because we believe that everyone has a right to a healthy, natural diet, no matter how they eat their food. Be true to you.
What does it mean for a meal to be deemed nutritionally complete then?
A meal is deemed nutritionally complete if it provides 100% of the recommended values of carbohydrates, protein, fat, vitamins, and minerals per serving. To do this, you need additives to create a single formula that does it all. That in turn needs to contain a delivery base (Whey etc.) and so we see all the issues people have with formula feeding.
Humans need a balanced diet, not a ‘nutritionally complete’ formula. Our blends and recipes are created to be part of a balanced diet, they contain a rich variety of ingredients that are selected to help you be you.
Should I take supplements with Food Untethered?
Before starting new supplements, consult your dietitian, doctor, or pharmacist, especially if you’re on medication.
